Two women riding a scooter to work were killed in a road accident that occurred on Obadenahalli Road in the Bashettihalli Industrial Area of Doddaballapur taluk on Monday.
The deceased have been identified as Ashwini (31),a resident of Kantanakunte village,and Sahana (22),a resident of Aruvanahalli.
While Ashwini died on the spot,Sahana,who sustained critical injuries, was rushed to a hospital where succumbed to her injuries during treatment.
According to police,the accident took place at around 8.30 a.m. when the two women were riding on scooter to their workplace at a factory in the Bashettihalli Industrial Area.
A speeding TT vehicle allegedly collided with their bike, causing both riders to be thrown onto the road and suffer fatal injuries.
Police from the Doddaballapur Rural Police Station visited the scene,conducted an inspection,and shifted the bodies for post-mortem examination.
A case has been registered and further investigation is underway.
In a noble gesture amid their grief,the families of both deceased women donated their eyes to the eye bank at Dr.Rajkumar Eye Bank,affiliated with Narayana Nethralaya,helping give the gift of sight to others.
