A 24-year-old woman was hacked to death in broad daylight at the KSRTC bus stand in B.C.Road in Dakshina Kannada’s Bantwal taluk on Thursday evening,allegedly by a distant relative whose advances she had repeatedly rejected.
The victim,Lavanya,a resident of Kakkepadavu,worked at a private nursing home in Kalladka.

The accused,identified as Chetan,is alleged to have been obsessively pursuing her despite her lack of interest.
Senior officer told reporters that Lavanya was waiting for a bus to return home at around 6 pm when Chetan allegedly approached her carrying a sharp weapon in his bag.
On noticing the weapon,she attempted to flee,but he chased her and repeatedly attacked her in full public view before escaping from the spot.
Passes by rushed the critically injured Lavanya to the Bantwal Government Hospital,where she was declared dead despite efforts to save her.
Police have registered a murder case and launched a search operation to trace and arrest the accused.
The motive is suspected to be her repeated rejection of his advances.
