The Karnataka government on Monday appointed senior IPS officer Labhu Ram as the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Police Computer Wing,Bengaluru,with immediate effect.
According to the government order,Labhu Ram,a 2004-batch Karnataka cadre IPS officer who was awaiting a posting,has been posted as IGP of the Police Computer Wing.
He replaces Pronab Mohanty,who was recently appointed as Director General of Police (DGP),Criminal Investigation Department (CID),Special Units and Economic Offences.
“Labhu Ram,IPS (KN: 2004),awaiting for posting after transferred from state intelligence,is posted with immediate effect and until further orders as Inspector General of Police,Police Computer Wing,Bengaluru,vice relieving Dr.Pronab Mohanty, IPS from concurrent charge.”
The government has also entrusted Labhu Ram with an additional responsibility.
He is placed in concurrent charge as Special Officer to Home Minister,Government of Karnataka,with immediate effect and until further orders.”
He had earlier served as Inspector General of Police (Intelligence) after being transferred from the Central Range in April 2026.
However,following a major IPS reshuffle by the newly formed D.K.Shivakumar-led government,he was replaced by Chandragupta as IGP (Intelligence) and had remained without a posting until the latest order.
