Bengaluru auto driver dies by suicide,alleges harassment by money lender in video FIR registered

A 52-year-old auto-rickshaw driver allegedly ends life by suicide after consuming poison on live video sent it to his family,reportedly due to continuous harassment by a money lender over repayment of a loan on Friday.

The deceased has been identified as G.Yusuf Jamaluddin .

The complaint was lodged by his son,who stated that on July 10, 2026,at around 3.05 pm,while he was at his workplace in Nagawara,he received video messages from his father.

According to the complaint,in the videos,Yusuf alleged that a man identified as Umesh had been harassing him for money.In another video,he was seen consuming poison and stated that he was on Kannur Road.

The complainant rushed to the location and found his father’s auto-rickshaw parked on the Bellahalli–Kannur Road near an apartment.

Yusuf was found unconscious in the driver’s seat with a strong smell emanating from his mouth.He was initially taken to a nearby private hospital near the Bellahalli Brick Factory bus stop, where doctors advised shifting him to another hospital.

He was then taken to Dr.B.R.Ambedkar Hospital in K.G. Halli,where doctors declared him brought dead at around 4.30 pm.

The son told police that he later watched all the videos sent by his father.In one of them,Yusuf allegedly said he had borrowed Rs.1.75 lakh and had requested time to repay the amount,but the lender refused.

In another video,he claimed that Umesh was torturing him and that he could no longer bear the harassment before consuming poison.

Police also recovered a bottle bearing the label “FIMC TRANSPORTEX”from the auto-rickshaw.

The complainant alleged that his father had earlier informed the family that Umesh,money lender was repeatedly demanding repayment of the loan and allegedly telling him to “go and die”if he could not repay the money.

Based on the complaint,police have registered a case against Umesh on charges of abetment of suicide and have initiated an investigation into the incident.
