In a significant reshuffle in the state police hierarchy,the Karnataka Government has transferred Dr.Pronab Mohanty, IPS,who was heading the state’s Cyber Crime Command Centre as Director General of Police(Cyber Crimes),and appointed him as Director General of Police, Criminal Investigation Department (CID),Special Units and Economic Offences,Bengaluru.
Dr. Mohanty,a 1994-batch Karnataka cadre IPS officer, was serving as Director General of Police,Internal Security Division,Bengaluru.Under the latest orders,he will continue to hold concurrent charge of the post of Director General of Police (Cyber Crimes),CID,until further orders.
In another transfer,Dr.Chandragupta, IPS (2006 batch), who was serving as Inspector General of Police,Security (Intelligence),Bengaluru, has been posted as Inspector General of Police,Intelligence,Bengaluru,following the transfer of Labhu Ram,IPS.
The government notification stated that the post of Inspector General of Police,Intelligence, has been declared equivalent in status and responsibilities to the cadre post of Inspector General of Police,CID,under Rule 12 of the IPS (Pay) Rules, 2016.
The transfers have come into effect immediately.
