Man arrested for black marketing IPL match tickets and selling them to public at inflated prices

The Central Crime Branch (CCB) police have arrested a man for allegedly black marketing IPL match tickets and selling them to the public at inflated prices.

Senior officer told reporters that the accused was involved in illegally procuring tickets for IPL matches—particularly high-demand games—and reselling them at exorbitant rates for profit.

The operation came to light following credible information received by CCB officials,after which a case was registered and an investigation was launched.

During the probe,police found that the accused had purchased large quantities of tickets under the names of companies and later sold them in the black market.

Notably,for the IPL match held on April 15,2026, between Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Lucknow Super Giants, he allegedly procured around 100 tickets through corporate bookings and resold them at higher prices.

Further investigation revealed that on March 28,2026, during the match between Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Chennai Super Kings, the accused had similarly purchased 81 tickets worth Rs.6.6 lakh under a company’s name and sold them illegally at inflated rates.

Overall,police have uncovered that during the 2026 IPL season, the accused purchased 181 tickets worth Rs.17.52 lakh and sold them in the black market,making unlawful profits.

The accused has been taken into custody and further investigation is underway to identify others involved in the racket.
