Karnataka Home Minister,Priyank Kharge on Sunday launched a sharp attack on BJP leader C.T.Ravi, accusing him of spreading misinformation and attempting to communalise the ongoing protests over the alleged NEET question paper leak.
In a strongly worded social media post, Kharge alleged that BJP leaders were resorting to”a chain of lies”to justify what he termed as hate-filled statements.He described C.T.Ravi as”a blot on the political system”and accused him of repeatedly making false claims.
Kharge said the BJP had failed to trigger large-scale communal unrest in Karnataka over the past three years and alleged that the party was now trying to inject communal narratives into every issue,including the NEET protests.
Referring to Ravi’s criticism of the protests,Kharge alleged that the BJP leader had shared an unrelated video to support his claims and was attempting to divert public attention from the real issues surrounding the students’ agitation.
The minister also took a personal swipe at Ravi,stating that the BJP leader lacked”morality,truth,commitment and conscience.”
He further referred to an earlier controversy involving Ravi’s alleged remarks in the Karnataka Legislative Assembly and claimed that the BJP leader had still not provided his voice sample for the ongoing investigation.
Kharge warned that “challenging the law”would not succeed and asserted that legal action would take its course.
The exchange comes amid an escalating political confrontation between the Congress and the BJP over the Freedom Park protest in Bengaluru,where police recently registered an FIR against a woman for allegedly displaying controversial posters during a demonstration against the alleged NEET paper leak.
