The Womwn protection wing of the Central Crime Branch (CCB)busted a prostitution racket and detained 12 Bangladeshi nationals,including 10 women and two men,for allegedly operating the racket and illegally in the city .
The arrested men have been identified as Suhel Monsur (29) and Mukul (32),both Bangladeshi nationals.
The 10 women were handed over to the Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO) for further proceedings.
According to the CCB,preliminary investigation revealed that the accused had allegedly entered India illegally through the West Bengal border around two months ago by paying middlemen.
They later shifted to Bengaluru and were allegedly operating a prostitution racket by posting photographs of the women on social media and contacting customers through intermediaries.
Police said they received credible information about women from Bangladesh being trafficked and forced into prostitution in the limits of Banaswadi and Hennur police stations.
Acting on the tip-off,the CCB’s Women Protection Wing conducted raids at multiple locations and rescued the women while apprehending the accused.
Authorities also recovered Bangladeshi identity documents and other records from the accused.
Verification by the FRRO reportedly confirmed that all 12 had entered India illegally.
Police have initiated legal proceedings, and steps are underway to deport the 12 Bangladeshi nationals after completing the necessary formalities.
