EaseMyTrip’s EMTev Begins Electric Bus Rollout in Bhopal, Targets Annual Production of 5,000 Buses

Company’s Vision 2030 roadmap focuses on integrated electric mobility ecosystem, localisation of components and expansion of domestic manufacturing

New Delhi: EaseMyTrip’s electric mobility arm Easy Green Mobility (EMTev) has commenced the deployment of electric buses in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh, as the company steps up its plans to build a large-scale electric commercial mobility business in India.

As part of its Vision 2030 roadmap, EMTev is working towards developing manufacturing capacity of up to 5,000 electric buses annually within the next five years. The company aims to establish an integrated mobility ecosystem covering electric bus manufacturing, fleet operations, service support and progressive localisation of components.

The Bhopal rollout marks an important step in EMTev’s strategy to combine vehicle manufacturing with mobility operations while building the infrastructure required to support the expansion of electric commercial transportation.

12-Metre and 13.5-Metre Electric Bus Models Receive Type Approval

According to the company, its 12-metre and 13.5-metre electric bus models have received type approval, paving the way for their deployment and commercial expansion.

The company’s initial portfolio includes a 12-metre electric seater coach with a seating capacity of 45+D. The vehicle is equipped with an LFP battery pack with a total energy capacity of 423.9 kWh, offering a claimed range of up to 350 km and a maximum speed of up to 100 km per hour.

The electric bus also features liquid-cooled battery technology and supports fast charging through a dual-gun configuration. Safety features include electronic braking and stability systems.

EMTev said it is also using camera-based monitoring and a centralised control tower to track vehicle and battery-related data, with the objective of improving operational efficiency, safety and fleet management.

Focus on AI, Safety and Advanced Technology

The company is also developing AI-enabled driver monitoring and blind-spot detection systems, while Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) form part of its broader technology roadmap.

EMTev CEO Manoj Soni said the company is focused on developing both intra-city and intercity electric buses equipped with long-range battery technology, fast-charging capabilities, advanced safety systems and passenger-focused features.

“Electric mobility has to move beyond the conversation around sustainability and demonstrate a strong case for scale, reliability and economics,” Soni said.

According to the company, the objective is to develop electric mobility solutions that can deliver operational efficiency and lower running costs while meeting the requirements of India’s growing commercial transportation sector.

Localisation of EV Components a Key Priority

A major focus of EMTev’s long-term strategy is the progressive localisation of electric vehicle components.

The company plans to increase domestic sourcing and manufacturing in phases to reduce dependence on imported components and strengthen India’s domestic electric vehicle supply chain.

The localisation strategy is expected to cover multiple areas of the electric mobility ecosystem as the company scales up its manufacturing and operations.

EaseMyTrip Eyes Larger Role in Electric Commercial Mobility

Rikant Pittie, CEO and Co-Founder of EaseMyTrip, said the company is looking to build capabilities across electric bus manufacturing, operations and localisation.

He said the focus would remain on scale, efficiency and long-term value creation for India’s mobility ecosystem.

The company’s proposed annual manufacturing capacity of 5,000 electric buses represents its long-term ambition to establish significant scale in India’s electric commercial mobility market.

With the Bhopal rollout, type-approved electric bus models, plans for domestic component localisation and an integrated manufacturing-and-operations strategy, EMTev is positioning itself to expand its presence in India’s rapidly evolving electric mobility sector.
