*Crucial Meeting Chaired by BWSSB Chairperson with Zonal Chief Engineers.
*Directions Issued to Obtain City’s Groundwater Level Report from IISc.
In the wake of a deficit in expected monsoon rains,Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB)Chairperson,Dr. N. Manjula has instructed senior board officials to proactively take necessary precautionary measures to ensure the citizens of Bengaluru do not face a drinking water crisis in the coming days.
Conducting a progress review meeting with zonal Chief Engineers at the BWSSB head office today,she assessed the preparations to tackle potential water scarcity in the future due to the lack of rain.

She held detailed discussions with the officials regarding the current water levels available in the KRS Reservoir and the need for its highly prudent utilization.
“All appropriate and necessary arrangements must be prepared right from now to resolve any potential issues that may arise in the future,”she directed.
The meeting also addressed the measures to be taken regarding the daily water supply volume to the city if the water shortage worsens in the coming days.
Furthermore,the Chairperson discussed with the officials the feasibility of supplying water to the city from the Hemavati and Kabini reservoirs as an alternative arrangement.
In addition to this,Dr.Manjula instructed senior officials to obtain a comprehensive report from the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) regarding the city’s groundwater levels and the actual status of currently functioning borewells,urging them to stay vigilant to prevent any sort of crisis in the near future.
Key officials,including BWSSB Engineer-in-Chief B.S. Dalayath,and Chief Engineers S.V.Venkatesh,Devaraju, Gangadhar,Rajashekar,and Mahadevegowda, were present at the meeting.
