Karnataka Home Minister Priyank Kharge has directed officials of the Karnataka State Police Housing and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (KSPH&IDCL)to ensure that residential and office buildings being constructed for the police and other departments are completed within the stipulated timeframe without compromising on quality.
Chairing a progress review meeting of the KSPH&IDCL on Monday,Kharge stressed the need for maintaining the highest standards in all infrastructure projects undertaken by the corporation.
The minister also instructed officials to launch Information,Education and Communication (IEC) programmes to support the children of departmental staff in preparing for competitive examinations.
He said necessary guidance, training and facilities should be provided to help them succeed in various competitive tests.
Key Decisions and Project Updates
Police Gruha-2025 Project:
Under the Rs.2,000-crore Police Gruha-2025 housing scheme aimed at improving residential facilities for police personnel,a total of 10,034 housing units have been sanctioned.Of these,3,496 units have already been completed, while construction of another 2,030 units is currently in progress.

Infrastructure Development:
Construction of the state-of-the-art Central Command Centre in Bengaluru has reached the final stage and is expected to be inaugurated shortly.
In addition,new police stations, District Police Office (DPO) buildings and Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) facilities are being constructed across various districts.
Projects for Other Departments:
The corporation is also executing infrastructure projects for several other departments,including the Prison Department.
Major projects include a high-security prison in Shivamogga and a central prison in Devanahalli.
Construction works for the Fire and Emergency Services Department as well as hostels for Backward Classes and Minority Welfare Departments are also being carried out successfully.
Historical Contribution:
The minister noted that the large-scale police housing initiative in Karnataka owes much to the efforts of former Home Minister Mallikarjun Kharge.
Currently,about 41.43 per cent of the total police housing stock in the state has been built under schemes initiated during his tenure.
Director General and Inspector General of Police Dr.M.A. Saleem,KSPH&IDCL Chairman,and Managing Director Arun Chakravarthy (IPS),and other senior officials attended the meeting.
