Rowdy-sheeter found dead in Nelamangala lake after alleged chain-snatching attempt

A rowdy-sheeter who was allegedly assaulted by members of the public after being caught while attempting to snatch a woman’s mangaluru chain was found dead under mysterious circumstances in a lake at Dodderi village in Nelamangala taluk.

The deceased has been identified as Battery Jayanth, who reportedly had 22 criminal cases against him.

Senior officer said Jayanth and his associate Yathish allegedly attempted to snatch the mangaluru chain of an elderly woman near Kuluvanahalli Gate in Nelamangala.

They were caught by members of the public,who allegedly assaulted the duo,leaving them unconscious.

The two were subsequently taken to hospital in a 108 ambulance.

However,they reportedly escaped from the ambulance while being shifted.

Jayanth’s body was later found in a lake at Dodderi village.The body has been shifted to Victoria Hospital for a post-mortem examination.

Police have launched a search for Yathish and are investigating the circumstances surrounding Jayanth’s death.
