Owner of Rottweiler booked by Mahadevapura police for allegedly dog attack on 12-year-old neighbouring boy

The Mahadevapura Police have registered an FIR against the owner of a Rottweiler

and his family following an alleged dog attack on 12-year-old neighbouring boy and subsequent criminal intimidation.

According to the police complaint,the incident occurred on June 13 at around 2:30 pm in Maheshwari Nagar 2nd Cross, in Maheshwari Nagar in Mahadevapura.

The complainant,Vipin Vincent,ex serviceman alleged that a black Rottweiler dog owned by his neighbour, identified as Shyam,was not properly restrained and was frequently allowed access outside the house premises, posing a risk to the public.

The complaint states that the complainant’s son,soni moun, was riding a bicycle on the street when the dog suddenly came out of the gate and bit him on the right side of his body (hip),causing injuries.

When the boy’s family approached the dog’s owner regarding the incident,an argument allegedly broke out.

The complainant alleged that Shyam,along with his wife Rajyalakshmi and their son,behaved aggressively, justified the dog’s actions,and threatened the family with consequences if they pursued legal action.

According to the complaint the accused said,‘Your boy must have done something,which is why the dog bit him.’

When we said that we would take the child to the hospital,they started arguing with us and said,‘Do whatever you want.’

Further,when we stated that we would file a police complaint, they threatened us by saying that if we lodged a complaint,we would face serious consequences.

Based on the complaint,Mahadevapura Police have registered a case under Sections 291,351(2),351(3),and 352 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023, relating to negligent conduct involving animals and alleged criminal intimidation.

The Police have commenced an investigation issued notice to the accused and are examining the circumstances surrounding the dog attack and the allegations made by the complainant.Further investigation is underway.
