Smugglers chopped of Sandalwood tree in Indian institute of Astrophysics campus in Bengaluru

A sandalwood tree situated in the Indian Institute of Astrophysics campus in Koramangala has been chopped and taken away despite the campus being guarded by the security personnel on Tuesday.

The security guard told the administration that three men gained entry into the campus between 3 am to 5 am, chopped the tree and carried its seems.

The Madiwala police rushed to spot and Inspected the area and are now collecting the CCTV footage from in and around the area to identify the accused .

Based on the complaint by Sripathi Rao, administrator of the institute the Madiwala police have taken up a case against the accused charging them under Karnataka forest act and further investigation is on.
