The Bengaluru Traffic Police registered 562 cases of drunk driving and 65 cases of over-speeding during a week-long special enforcement drive conducted across the city from June 22 to June 28, 2026.
The special drive,aimed at improving road safety and curbing violations, was carried out by traffic personnel from all 53 traffic police stations in Bengaluru.
During the campaign against drunk driving,traffic police checked 40,898 vehicles and booked 562 motorists found driving under the influence of alcohol.
In the simultaneous crackdown on over-speeding, police registered 65 cases and collected Rs.65,000 in fines from violators.
According to the Traffic Police,the special drive was launched to reduce road accidents caused by drunken driving and excessive speed,both of which remain major contributors to fatal crashes in the city.
Officials said similar enforcement drives will continue in the coming weeks to deter traffic violations and ensure safer roads for commuters.
