Three arrested for creating,circulating Obscene AI-Made Visuals Of ‘Kantara’Actor Rukmini Vasanth

The Cyber Crime Police Station of the Cyber Operations Centre (COP),Bengaluru City, has arrested three individuals for allegedly creating and circulating objectionable images and videos of actress Rukmini Vasanth using Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology.

The case was registered following a complaint lodged by the actress.Police booked the accused under various provisions of the Information Technology Act,including Sections 66(C),66(D),66(E),67 and 67(A),along with relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023.

According to investigators,the accused created and shared AI-generated morphed images and videos on social media platforms with the intention of portraying the actress in a derogatory manner.

The circulation of such content allegedly harmed her reputation,violated her privacy,caused mental harassment,and misrepresented her before the public.

A special investigation team was constituted to trace those responsible.

During the probe,police identified and apprehended three accused persons.Authorities also seized three mobile phones allegedly used in the commission of the offence.

The arrested accused have been identified as Ravikumar (24),a resident of Chilakamukhi village in Bagalkot district;Chandrakanth (33),currently residing in Kamakshipalya in Bengaluru and originally from Thirthahalli taluk in Shivamogga district;and Ranjith (25), a resident of Mahalakshmi Nagar in Bengaluru.

The accused were produced before the jurisdictional court and have been remanded to judicial custody.

Further investigation is underway to determine whether additional persons were involved in creating or disseminating the content.
