CM D.K.Shivakumar felicitates Karnataka athletes who held national flag high at the Asian Games

*Cash reward increased for Asian Games medal winners.
*₹1 crore for gold medalists, ₹75 lakh for silver, ₹50 lakh for bronze medalists.
*Incentive of ₹5 lakh each for 20 athletes.
₹10 lakh each for Olympics preparation.
CM D.K.Shivakumar felicitated the state’s athletes who brought laurels to the country and Karnataka at the Asian Games 2026,at Vidhana Soudha on Tuesday.He announced a total cash prize of ₹8 crore for 8 medal winners.
On this occasion,the CM announced several key incentive measures from the state government for the athletes who participated in the Asian Games,including the medal winners.
For the first time, a cash incentive of ₹5 lakh each has been sanctioned to 20 athletes from Karnataka who qualified and competed in the Asian Games 2026.
Athletes from Athletics,Badminton,Cricket,Cycling, Equestrian,Golf,Hockey, Shooting,Swimming, Table Tennis,and Sports Climbing disciplines are the beneficiaries of this scheme.
Increase in reward money for medal winners:
The CM has also increased the cash reward given to Karnataka athletes who won medals at the Asian Games.
Previously, ₹35 lakh was awarded for a gold medal, ₹25 lakh for a silver medal, and ₹15 lakh for a bronze medal.
CM D.K. Shivakumar decided to grant a cash prize of ₹1 crore for a gold medal, ₹75 lakh for a silver medal, and ₹50 lakh for a bronze medal.
Direct recruitment opportunity for athletes:
An opportunity has been provided for direct recruitment to Group-B posts for medal winners of the Asian Games and Commonwealth Games.This recruitment will be carried out through a selection committee chaired by the Chief Secretary.
₹10 lakh each for Olympics preparation:
The government has also extended support to athletes preparing for the next stage at the Olympics.Asian Games medal winners M.R.Poovamma,Sneha S.S, Shreyanka Patil,and Commonwealth Games medal winner Shilpa K.S.have been inducted into the ‘Target Olympics’ scheme for the year 2026-27.
A cash incentive of ₹10 lakh each will be provided to them for Olympics preparation.
2% reservation for athletes in government jobs:
A 2% reservation in state government direct recruitment has been implemented for achiever athletes.This reservation will apply to direct recruitment across Group-A, Group-B, Group-C, and Group-D posts.A notification regarding this was issued on October 3, 2026.

• Tilottama Sen (Shooting,Women’s 50m Rifle, Silver).
• Ayush R.Shetty (Men’s Team Badminton, Silver).
• Sneha S.S.(Athletics 4×100 Mixed Relay, Bronze).
• Aditi Ashok (Golf Women’s Team, Silver).
• Pranavi S. Urs (Golf Women’s Team – Silver, and Individual Gold).
• Mohith H.S. (Hockey Men’s Team, Gold).
20 athletes who participated in Asian Games 2026 and received an incentive of ₹5.00 lakh each:
