“I am also a god-fearing believer; my statement was distorted”.
“I am someone who believes that peace comes to the world through righteousness/religion”.
“I have immense respect for the state’s maths and Swamijis, and on every occasion,I have offered my respects by bowing to the feet of the Swamijis of the Pancha Peethas.I have not spoken disrespectfully about the Swamijis,”clarified Chief Minister D.K.Shivakumar.
Shivakumar gave this response to the media at the Vidhana Soudha on Tuesday.
“In the recent event involving Veerashaiva Swamijis,I did not speak disrespectfully to any Swamiji.I had appealed to the people gathered there,You must protect and serve us,and we will help you too.’
I do not know who respects or disrespects the state’s maths and Swamijis, but I personally have immense respect.
I am also a god-fearing believer.I have faith in my religion. May humanism triumph,I am someone who believes that peace comes to the world through righteousness/religion,”he said.
If I am arrogant, let them bring it down:I won’t mind:
“I started my political life with the belief that Christians, Buddhists, Scheduled Castes/Tribes, Vokkaligas, Lingayats, backward classes, and minorities are all one and the same.
Some people distort this and speak as they please. They say that D.K.Shivakumar has grown arrogant with power. If I am arrogant, let them bring it down.I won’t feel bad about it,”he added.
