PRANAB KUMAR DAS
BUREAU CHIEF
NABANNA (WEST BENGAL): It is a “Traditional Picture” in the field of the Indian History. That is – movement of Media persons will be Restricted at specific places by the newly elected Government after coming to power. Before being elected by the electors and taking over administrative power, leadership of all political parties feel. Media is the only friend to organize any movement against ruling party’s activities. It is a common incident which is happening for the hard working professional Reporters and Photo Journalists in the field of Journalism.
The same thing happens for the newly elected Bharatiya Janata Party which has been focusing on the Ground of West Bengal State now. This is the first time BJP has got massive majorities ignoring the previous three times elected ruling party’s existence. People of West Bengal are very happy. They are expressing and exchanging their constructive thoughts freely with laughing face. There is no panic. There is no tension in mind. Anti-socials are not being protected by the ruling political party. Those unsocial elements even under banner of ruling party have been alert for any type of wrong activities in healthy society.
As an example, previous State Chief Minister Miss Mamata Banerjee’s beloved nephew has been attacked allegedly by political miscreants. This incident happened on May 30, Saturday, in broad daylight. Mamata’s nephew could have been saved himself physically reportedly because of Media persons’ presence severely. Her nephew became sick due to allegedly mentally hurt on that fateful day. This incident is not acceptable which occurred at Sonarpur Assembly Constituency in South 24-Parganas District. It has been told by a senior BJP leader to this Kolkata based Bureau Chief of a newspaper published from New Delhi. According to the police sources, five persons have so far been arrested in this connection. The sources, however, claimed that three of the arrested are allegedly being identified close with the defeated Trinamool Congress defeated woman candidate in the last Assembly. Her husband, the sources added, is a senior police officer.
After instructions of the present Speaker Rathin Bose, who has been elected from Coochbihar District, the notice has been issued on May 29 by Assembly House Authorities. It is shocking news for the Regular visiting Media persons including this Senior Correspondent. They are not satisfied over the role of newly elected Government. The newly BJP Government has taken oath under the supervision of State Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikary who is known as a dynamic political personality at the age of under sixty. Leader of Opposition (Trinamool Congress) Sovandeb Chatterjee and Trinamool Congress spokesperson as well as MLA Kunal Ghosh strongly protested against the BJP ruled Government’s decision on May 29. Newly BJP Government has been formed May 9. Trinamool Congress described this notice as “Undemocratic” for Media persons.
A section of officials in Assembly House sources when contacted. A section of Media persons are being responsible behind this drastic decision of the Assembly. Media’s movements are not following the rules and regulations of the Holy House. On the other side, those officials alleged, a retired officer who is presently working with the present State Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikary as personal assistant inside Assembly House is responsible. When BJP was in the Opposition, this officer as a personal assistant of Leader of opposition Suvendu was used to allow specific media occasionally even at around 8 p.m. It is allegedly violating Assembly Legislative House rules. The officials are undoubtedly not happy. The officials, moreover, alleged that the personal assistant who is still along with Suvendu, had or has still a good ‘Rapport’ with previous Trinamool Congress leaders.
