The Jalahalli Traffic Police have registered an FIR against unidentified persons for allegedly scattering nails on the busy MES Ring Road with the intention of causing vehicle punctures and illegally profiting from puncture repair services.
According to the complaint filed by Jalahalli Traffic Police Inspector Shekhar G,unidentified miscreants have been regularly throwing small nails on the road within the police station limits.
As a result,four to five vehicles reportedly suffer punctures every day,disrupting traffic flow and creating the risk of serious road accidents.
Police said stranded vehicles often come to a halt in the middle of the road after suffering punctures,leading to traffic congestion and posing a danger to commuters.
Members of the public had repeatedly brought the issue to the notice of the police.
The complaint also refers to an earlier incident reported by Chandrashekhar,who approached the police on April 19,stating that his vehicle suffered a puncture after running over a nail on MES Road on April 17.
He alleged that he was forced to pay an unusually high amount for the puncture repair.
Based on his complaint,a separate entry had been made in GP No. 17/2026.
Subsequently,the Jalahalli Traffic Police registered NCR and sought permission from the 42nd ACJM Court to convert the complaint into an FIR.
Police have launched an investigation to identify the persons responsible for deliberately placing nails on the road and to initiate legal action against them.
