JJ Nagar Police have arrested two men accused of carrying out an armed robbery by threatening a woman with a fake pistol and a knife.
Police have recovered cash and gold ornaments worth Rs.25.5 lakh from the accused.
The arrested have been identified as Ashraf (22)of Chamarajpet and Afzal alias Dichi (32) of Padarayanapura.
Bengaluru City Police Commissioner Seemant Kumar Singh said police recovered Rs.8 lakh in cash,139 grams of gold ornaments,and the motorcycle used in the offence.
Woman robbed at knifepoint:
He further said the incident occurred on July 6 at a house in 7th Cross,Padarayanapura,within the limits of JJ Nagar Police Station.
The accused allegedly entered the house when the victim was alone,threatened her with a knife and a fake pistol,assaulted her by striking her on the head with the imitation firearm,and fled with gold ornaments and Rs.2 lakh in cash.
Following the complaint,JJ Nagar Police launched an investigation using technical and intelligence inputs.
Arrest and recovery:
The two accused were arrested on July 10 near old gudadahalli while travelling on a motorcycle.
During interrogation,the accused allegedly confessed to the robbery.Based on their disclosures,police recovered part of the stolen cash and jewellery from one accused’s residence in Chamarajpet.
The remaining gold ornaments,which had allegedly been handed over to one of the accused’s relatives,were also traced and seized.
Police said the investigation is continuing to determine whether the duo was involved in any other similar robberies.
