A 31-year-old newly married woman allegedly died by suicide after consuming poison at Basavanahalli near Nelamangala on Sunday night.
The deceased has been identified as Tanuja (31),a resident of Beerammanahalli in Gauribidanur.
She was reportedly in a relationship with Ravindra,a resident of Mayasandra in Yelahanka,and both worked at the same place.The couple had recently married after being in love.
Senior officer said after the marriage,Ravindra had allegedly asked Tanuja to stay in a rented house at Singapura in Yelahanka,assuring her that he would inform his family about their marriage later.
On Sunday,Tanuja reportedly called Ravindra and asked him to come home.
However,he allegedly told her that he could not come immediately and would visit the following morning.
Upset over this,she switched off her mobile phone.
Later,at around 10 pm,Tanuja allegedly sent Ravindra a message stating that she had consumed poison near Basavanahalli in Nelamangala.
Ravindra rushed to the spot and shifted her to the Nelamangala Government Hospital,where doctors declared her dead.
A case has been registered at the Nelamangala Town Police Station,and further investigation is underway.
