The Bengaluru Traffic Police booked 1,211 motorists for drunken driving during a week-long special enforcement drive conducted across the city from July 6 to July 12, 2026.
As part of the drive,traffic personnel from all 53 traffic police stations checked 82,909 vehicles for violations related to drunken driving.
The police also launched a simultaneous crackdown on over-speeding, during which 222 cases were registered.
A total fine of Rs.2,22,300 was collected from over-speeding violators.
According to the Traffic Police,the special enforcement drive was aimed at curbing drunken driving and over-speeding to improve road safety in Bengaluru.
Officials said similar enforcement drives will continue in the coming weeks to deter traffic violations and reduce road accidents.
