Reporting irregularities at Bengaluru’s Kidwai Hospital proven costly for KAS officer”
Senior KAS officer Asha Parveen,who was serving as the Chief Administrative Officer of Bengaluru’s Kidwai Memorial Institute of Oncology,has been transferred within two months triggered criticism and questions .
She has been transferred as adminstrative oficer of the BWSSB.
This is close to the to the heel of her submitting a detailed reports to the state government highlighting alleged irregularities,administrative lapses and corruption-related issues at the hospital after assuming charge as Chief Administrative Officer.
However,the government issued transfer orders moving her out of the post within two months of her appointment,leading to allegations that an officer who exposed corruption was being sidelined.
The report claims that Asha Parveen had earlier also submitted documents regarding alleged corruption in the nephrology department of Victoria Hospital, following which she was transferred.
After taking charge at Kidwai Hospital,she reportedly continued investigations into alleged malpractices and prepared reports based on evidence.
Even justice Kunha committee report conducted a detailed probe and submitted a detailed report to the government with a list of reccomendation has not been implemented, yet .
The controversy has intensified amid questions over the government’s stand on corruption.Critics have pointed out that while Chief Minister D.K.Shivakumar has repeatedly stated that corruption will not be tolerated, the transfer of an officer who reportedly brought alleged irregularities to the government’s notice has raised concerns.
Public representatives and activists have demanded that the government conduct a detailed inquiry into the allegations at Kidwai Hospital,including issues from previous administrations, and examine the reports submitted by Asha Parveen.
The government has not publicly clarified whether the transfer was a routine administrative decision or linked to the reports submitted by the officer.
Sources said that the irregularities happening in purchase,manpower and tender process and even appointment of doctors to the institute .
Despite flagging this irregularities time to time no action has been taken,sources in the department said.
The matter as brought to the notice of chief minister, concerned minister, chief secretary and other administrative heads,but the irregularities continue unabated and the patients continue to suffer .
Refusing to comment on the transfer Ms.Parveen,said that she is going to challenge her transfer in the high court.
It may be recalled that similar unceremonious transfer has been done with SP lokayukta,Shivaprakash Devaraju has been transferred within few months of his appointment .
He as appointed as SP-1 in July 2025 and supposed to serve at least three years.He handled many sensitive cases and crack down on corruption within the department .
