Chief Minister D.K.Shivakumar on Saturday dedicated 32 Mobile Forensic Science Laboratories (FSLs) and 75 new police vehicles to the Karnataka Police,strengthening the state’s scientific investigation capabilities.
In a press release,Home,Information Technology, Biotechnology and e-Governance Minister Priyank Kharge said forensic science laboratories play a crucial role in ensuring swift and scientific investigation of criminal cases,and the state government is committed to modernising and expanding forensic infrastructure.
The newly commissioned mobile forensic laboratories will enable police teams to reach crime scenes quickly and collect scientific evidence on-site,improving the efficiency and quality of investigations,the minister said.
Kharge noted that scientific evidence has become increasingly vital in criminal investigations, helping secure convictions of offenders while ensuring justice for innocent persons.
He said the government is enhancing the capabilities of forensic laboratories with modern equipment,advanced technology and skilled personnel.
The minister said regional forensic science laboratories in Bengaluru,Mysuru,Mangaluru,Belagavi and Kalaburagi are being strengthened as part of the state’s efforts to expand forensic services across Karnataka.
He added that the government is focusing on continuous training for forensic personnel,adoption of advanced scientific tools,capacity building and research.
Greater coordination between the police, forensic experts and the judiciary will further improve the criminal investigation process, he said.
Kharge said the government will continue to invest in new infrastructure,technological facilities and human resource development to expand forensic services across all regions of the state,with the objective of strengthening public safety and the delivery of justice.
