Shivamogga:In a dramatic hide-and-seek game with the police,a 19-year-old rowdy sheeter allegedly jumped into a pond and hid under weeds to evade arrest.
However, his plan failed when two policemen entered the water and caught him.
The accused,identified as Dileep alias Kariya (19),a resident of Bhadravati,had been absconding for a long time and was wanted in connection with cases for which the court had issued three non-bailable warrants against him.
Despite repeated summons and the warrants,Dileep allegedly failed to appear before the court and continued to evade the police.
Acting on a tip-off about his whereabouts,the Bhadravati New Town Police launched a search operation to trace him.
When the police closed in,Dileep allegedly fled and hid in a nearby pond,taking cover under weeds in an attempt to avoid detection.
However,PSI Ramesh and police personnel Prasanna entered the pond and searched the water before locating and apprehending him.
The accused was subsequently taken into custody and produced before the authorities for further legal proceedings.
