Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Wednesday,issued a stern warning to police officers,saying that any collusion with the real estate mafia would not be tolerated.
He emphasized that police and staff must create a fear-free environment for citizens and instill fear among criminals.
Speaking at Pulikeshinagar after inaugurating the newly built police housing complexes and police stations in
Chamarajpet,Cubbon Park,High Grounds and Pulikeshinagar,he emphasized on the link of crimes to
real estate scams and unemployment.
Siddaramaiah also highlighted the police department’s critical role in ensuring the safety of over 7 crore
citizens in the state.
“The police department is responsible for protecting property,lives and creating a safe environment.The
government is always ready to provide necessary privileges and new stations to the department.When
there is peace and order in the state,the speed of development increases.
The Chief Minister,while acknowledging that crime rate is going down,warned against laziness,But if the police are silent,the criminals try to escape the law by hiding under the mat.This should not be allowed.”
Home Minister Dr.G.Parameshwara,also addressed the event and said that the Police Housing Corporation has given 28 lakh to the officers and staff of the department.
When we looked at the houses where the police live, we found them not well-equipped.Hence,the Police Housing Scheme was started
With the aim of providing decent houses and so far, 46 percent of the houses have been provided.The
Police Housing Scheme will be continued in the coming days as well.”
During the speech,greater importance on safety of women and children in the city was also placed. Under the Nirbhaya Scheme,Rs 650 crore have been spent in Bengaluru and CCTV cameras have been installed.
They also announced that they will make Karnataka drug-free.In this regard,drugs worth hundreds of crores of rupees were detected and destroyed during a special operation carried out a month before the New Year.
Siddaramaiah concluded by calling for a people-friendly police system and treating those who come to the
police station in a healthy manner while maintaining strict law enforcement to ensure peace and development.
