A 29-year-old man allegedly died by suicide after his mother refused to give him money for alcohol and urged him to give up drinking in Hulimavu on Sunday morning.
The deceased has been identified as Siddaraju,a native of Yadgir,who was living with his mother in a rented house at CK Palya.
His mother works as a helper in a private school,while Siddaraju was unemployed and allegedly addicted to alcohol.
Senior officer told reporters that Siddaraju asked his mother for money on Saturday night,as he reportedly did frequently.When she refused and advised him to stop drinking,he allegedly left the house.
On Sunday morning,Siddaraju allegedly lay down in front of the rear wheel of a slowly moving garbage truck, which ran over him,killing him on the spot.
Police said CCTV footage from the area was examined, and it reportedly showed Siddaraju intentionally placing his head beneath the truck’s rear wheel as it moved forward,confirming it to be a case of suicide.
The garbage truck driver is believed to have been unaware of the incident and drove away from the spot. Police have launched a search to trace and question the driver.
A case has been registered at Hulimavu Police Station, and further investigation is underway.
