669 drunk driving cases booked in Bengaluru during week long special drive

Bengaluru Traffic Police registered 669 cases of drunk driving and 46 cases of over-speeding during a special enforcement drive conducted across the city between june 15 to June 21 as part of efforts to improve road safety.

The drive,carried out by officers from all 53 traffic police stations,targeted motorists driving under the influence of alcohol and those violating speed limits.

During the operation, police checked 43,057 vehicles of various categories across Bengaluru.

A total of 669 motorists were booked for driving under the influence of alcohol, while 46 cases of over-speeding were registered.Traffic police collected fines amounting to Rs.46,000 from speeding violators.

According to police,the special drive was aimed at curbing drunken driving and over-speeding, two major factors contributing to road accidents.

Officials said the enforcement campaign would continue in the coming days to ensure safer roads and stricter adherence to traffic regulations.
