An FIR has been registered against the social media page”Kumaraswamy for CM”for allegedly circulating a manipulated video targeting Karnataka Chief Minister D.K.Shivakumar.
The case was registered at Sadashivanagar Police Station based on a complaint filed by advocate Deepu C.R.The complainant alleged that a fabricated video created using artificial intelligence technology was shared on social media platforms with the intention of maligning the Chief Minister’s image and reputation.
According to the complaint,the video was allegedly designed to portray D.K.Shivakumar in a misleading manner and damage his public standing.
It further alleged that the content was intended to spread misinformation and create confusion among the public,thereby disturbing social harmony.
Police have invoked relevant legal provisions and registered an FIR against the social media page.
Investigators are examining the origin of the video,the individuals responsible for creating and disseminating it, and whether AI-generated or deepfake technology was used in its production.
The Sadashivanagar Police have taken up the investigation and are collecting digital evidence as part of the probe.
The case comes amid growing concerns over the misuse of artificial intelligence and deepfake technology to create misleading political content and spread misinformation on social media platforms.
