In a major crackdown on rowdyism and anti-social activities, the Chikkaballapur District Police have adopted a strict zero-tolerance policy against individuals involved in criminal activities and actions that threaten law and order.
Acting on the directions of the Director General and Inspector General of Police (DG&IGP),the district police have constituted Anti-Rowdy Squads comprising 65 personnel across all police circles and stations.
The squads have been tasked with monitoring and curbing the activities of habitual offenders and anti-social elements.
As part of the initiative, rowdy parades were conducted in all police stations across the district last week, during which rowdy sheeters were summoned and issued stern warnings against engaging in criminal activities.
Continuing the intensified enforcement drive, police conducted a district-wide special operation on Friday night, carrying out surprise inspections, combing operations and house checks.
During the operation,189 rowdy sheeters were verified and information regarding their recent activities was collected.
Separate registers have also been introduced in all police stations to monitor the actions taken by Anti-Rowdy Squads.
Police officials stated that stringent legal action, including externment proceedings, is being initiated against habitual offenders and those involved in repeated criminal activities.
So far this year,15 externment proposals have been submitted, and orders have already been issued against three individuals.More such actions are expected in eligible cases.
Authorities have also warned that stringent laws such as the Goonda Act,the Karnataka Control of Organised Crimes Act (KCOCA),and the PIT-NDPS Act will be invoked wherever necessary against serious offenders.
Apart from targeting rowdy elements, the district police are continuing their crackdown on illegal activities such as gambling, matka operations and illicit liquor trade.
Officials said social media platforms are also under constant surveillance, and strict action will be taken against those spreading misinformation, inciting unrest, promoting criminal activities or disturbing public peace.
The Chikkaballapur Police reiterated that no space will be allowed for rowdies,anti-social elements or law violators in the district and assured citizens that continuousmonitoring, surprise inspections and rigorous enforcement measures will continue to ensure public safety and security.
