Mobile Snatcher Dies While Fleeing After Theft Bid in Bengaluru;accomplice nabbed

A suspected mobile phone snatcher died after collapsing while attempting to flee following a failed theft attempt near cubbonpet in the limits of the Halasurgate Police Station.

The deceased has been identified as Junaid,while his alleged accomplice Arbaz has been arrested by police.

Senior officer told reporters that, the incident occurred on May 15 near 14th Cross, cubbonpet.

A pedestrian was reportedly walking along the road while using his mobile phone when two men arrived on a motorcycle and allegedly snatched the device before trying to escape.

The victim immediately raised an alarm,shouting “thieves,thieves.”Hearing the cries,a labourer approaching from the opposite direction reportedly hurled the heavy loaded sack bag he was carrying on his head at the fleeing motorcycle.

The impact caused the riders to lose control and crash onto the road.

As members of the public rushed towards them,the suspects abandoned the stolen mobile phone and motorcycle and fled the spot.The entire incident was captured on CCTV cameras in the area.

However,while running away,Junaid allegedly collapsed on a footpath and died.

Preliminary information suggests that he had been suffering from a heart-related ailment.

Halasurgate police later registered a case of unnatural death and launched an investigation.

During the probe,officers arrested the second accused, Arbaz,and further investigation is underway.

Officials said CCTV footage and other evidence are being examined as part of the investigation.
