Karnataka Home Minister Priyank Kharge on Friday reviewed Bengaluru’s traffic management system and said the government would formulate an action plan aimed at strengthening road safety,ensuring stricter enforcement of traffic rules,and enhancing the efficiency of traffic police personnel.
Kharge visited the Bengaluru Traffic Management Centre and held discussions with senior police officers on the city’s traffic situation.
He received a detailed briefing on the functioning of the traffic management system and ongoing initiatives to regulate vehicular movement in the city.
Speaking on the occasion,the minister said Bengaluru Traffic Police have been effectively managing traffic through the use of modern technologies and that efforts would be made to further improve operational efficiency in the coming days.

Senior police officers informed the minister that while Bengaluru’s population is growing at an annual rate of 3.7 per cent, the number of vehicles is increasing at nearly 10 per cent annually.
Despite rapid urbanisation,employment growth and expanding economic activity,Bengaluru has developed an effective traffic management system to handle increasing mobility demands.
Officials said Bengaluru Traffic Police operate through four divisions and 53 traffic police stations,managing traffic across a road network of nearly 14,000 kilometres.
The force oversees traffic movement for approximately 1.25 crore registered vehicles in the city.
During the visit,Kharge also toured the Traffic Police Museum and inspected the Camera Tracking Division, where he reviewed technology-driven monitoring and enforcement operations.
Director General and Inspector General of Police (DG&IGP)Dr M.A.Saleem,Bengaluru City Police Commissioner,Seemant Kumar Singh,and other senior police officials were present during the review meeting.
