The Bengaluru City Police of Ashoknagar and Malleswaram police personnel arrested five persons, including three individuals from other states and two local residents,for allegedly selling banned narcotic substances in the limits of Ashoknagar and Malleswaram police stations.

The team seized 3 kg and 686 grams of hydro ganja from the accused.
The value of the seized contraband is estimated at ₹1.28 crore,while its market value is said to be around ₹2.56 crore.
Senior officer told reporters that officers had received credible information on different occasions that banned hydro ganja was being illegally sold in the Ashoknagar and Malleswaram areas.
Based on the information,cases were registered under the provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act (NDPS Act),following which raids were conducted at various locations.
During the operations,five accused were taken into custody.
Police said the accused confessed during interrogation that they had procured the banned narcotic substance at lower prices from suppliers belonging to other states and local contacts,with the intention of earning huge profits by selling it to the public and college students.
Police also stated that efforts are underway to trace other persons involved in supplying the hydro ganja to the accused.Further investigation into the case is in progress.
The five accused were produced before the court on different dates,and the court remanded all of them to judicial custody.
The operations were carried out under the guidance of DCPs,Akshay M. Hakay, and B.S.Nemagouda,led by ACPs,Dr.Priyadarshini Eshwara Sanikoppa and Venugopal B.R.,and a team led by Inspectors,Ravi K.B.,Yashwanth Kumar H.M.and others, he added.
