Abhijit Ray, Kolkata:Representatives of the India alliance have approached the President on the Manipur issue. Representatives of the 16 parties want to submit all reports to President Draupadi Murmu after seeing the situation in the troubled northeastern state. Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury and Sushmita Dev have appealed to meet the President in this regard.However, raisina hills has not yet given any time to the delegates. The India alliance said it would go and discuss Manipur in detail as soon as the President gives time for the meeting.The northeastern state of Manipur has been gripped by caste riots for more than three months. The conflict between the Kuki and Metei tribes over the expansion of power has become so dangerous that it has shaken the mood of Delhi. In particular, the viral video of two women walking in disloyalty has sparked a huge controversy.The Opposition demanded that the Prime Minister make a statement in Parliament on the Manipur issue and discuss it. However, the Centre is yet to take any action.In such a situation, the opposition India Alliance had proposed to the first Bengal Chief Minister and Trinamool Congress supremo Mamata Banerjee to visit Manipur and take stock of the situation. Following the proposal, a total of 20 delegates from 16 parties went to Manipur last weekend. The party, led by Congress MP Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury, visited the refugee camp in Churachandpur area and spoke to the refugees and handed over a memorandum to the Governor there.After returning from there, they now want to draw the president’s attention to the situation in Manipur. Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury, Gaurav Gogoi and Sushmita Dev want to meet Draupadi Murmu. They want to describe the “ankhodekhahal” of the scene to the country’s highest constitutional head. The 20-member manipur team will go there as soon as the President gives time.
