In a daring burglary, unidentified miscreants broke into a jewellery shop by drilling through a wall and decamped with nearly 70 kg of silver articles worth around Rs.1.2 crore in North Bengaluru.
The incident was reported at MB Jewellers located near Havanur in the Eight Mile area.
Senior officer told reporters that the accused first secured access from the rear side of the building and then drilled a hole through the wall to enter the shop.
Once inside, the burglars targeted silver items, taking advantage of the recent surge in silver prices.
Investigators suspect the theft was pre-planned,given the methodical way in which the wall was breached and valuables were removed.
Police said the offenders locked the premises from outside after committing the crime to delay detection.
A case has been registered at Bagalagunte police station, and efforts are underway to identify and nab the accused.
