The Cyber Crime Police have registered an FIR against multiple Instagram users for allegedly posting obscene, sexually explicit and derogatory content targeting Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha,Rahul Gandhi,on social media.
According to the complaint,Siddaraju (32),a member of the KPCC Legal Cell,alleged that while browsing Instagram on July 25, 2026,he came across a video posted on the Instagram account ground.reality_india carrying the tagline”Why is the Opposition party so silent”.
The complainant alleged that the nearly 30-second video contained abusive,obscene, sexually explicit and defamatory remarks directed at Rahul Gandhi.
The complaint further stated that the video used insulting language and objectionable expressions intended to demean the Congress leader.
The FIR also names Instagram accounts raashtravaadhi2 and manvithamanojsamanv for allegedly posting obscene and sexually explicit comments beneath the video.
According to the complaint,the comments contained vulgar language,offensive sexual references and expressions allegedly derogatory towards women.
Based on the complaint,the Cyber Crime Police registered a case on July 27, 2026 under Section 67 of the Information Technology Act,2000 (publishing or transmitting obscene material in electronic form) and Section 352 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023.
Police have initiated an investigation to identify the persons operating the Instagram accounts and to determine their role in uploading the video and posting the comments.
The allegations remain under investigation, and the registration of the FIR does not by itself establish guilt.
