BTP booked 979 cases in week-long drunk driving, over-speeding crackdown

The Bengaluru Traffic Police conducted a week-long special enforcement drive against drunk driving and over-speeding across the city from April 6 to April 12, registering a total of 979 cases.

The intensive drive was carried out simultaneously across all 53 traffic police stations, targeting motorists driving under the influence of alcohol and those violating speed limits.

During the crackdown on drunk driving,a total of 50,941 vehicles of various categories were checked.Police registered 747 cases against drivers found under the influence of alcohol.

In a parallel drive against over-speeding,232 cases were booked,and fines amounting to Rs.2.33 lakh were collected from violators.

Officials said the initiative is part of ongoing efforts to curb dangerous driving practices and enhance road safety in Bengaluru.

The special drive will continue in the coming days,with stricter enforcement planned to deter repeat offenders.
