Adi Narayana Naidu, grandson of late former MP and former Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) Chairman D.K.Adikesavulu Naidu, has been booked by Bengaluru police for allegedly running over a community dog in Jayanagar, more than four years after he was arrested in a similar case involving the death of a stray dog.

The latest case was registered at Siddapura Police Station following a complaint filed by Badari Prasad M.S. (64),an animal welfare activist, volunteer, rescuer and member of the Jayanagar Canine Squad.

According to the complaint, the incident occurred on July 24 between 3.20 pm,and 4 pm on 10th ‘F’ Main Road,1st Block,Jayanagar, when a white Maruti Baleno (KA-05-NK-5893) allegedly driven by Adi Narayana Naidu came at high speed through the narrow residential lane and deliberately swerved towards a community dog named Jackie, knocking it down.

The complainant alleged that the driver neither stopped to help the injured dog nor informed the authorities before leaving the spot.

CCTV footage from the area reportedly captured the vehicle striking the dog and forms part of the evidence collected by police.

Jackie suffered grievous injuries, including a fractured backbone, and is undergoing treatment.

Badari Prasad alleged that the accused is a habitual rash driver and pointed out that Siddapura Police had earlier registered FIR No. 21/2022 against him after he allegedly drove his Audi car over a sleeping community dog named Lara on January 26, 2022.

The incident had sparked outrage among animal welfare groups, and Adi Narayana Naidu was arrested in that case.

The complainant said he met the Deputy Commissioner of Police (South Division), who assured him that appropriate legal action would be taken.

Based on the complaint,Siddapura Police have registered a case under Sections 281 and 325 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023,along with Section 11(1) of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act,1960.

A police officer said that a notice has been issued to the registered owner of the car, directing him to appear before the investigating officer for questioning as part of the ongoing investigation.

Police said the investigation is in progress, and further action will be taken based on the evidence collected, including CCTV footage and witness statements.
