Daughter,Grandson arrested For Murder Of 75-year-old Woman At Kengeri In Bengaluru

A 75-year-old woman was allegedly beaten to death by her daughter and grandson following a quarrel over property at Subhash Nagar within the limits of Kengeri police station limits.

The victim has been identified as Jayamma (75).

Senior officer told reporters that the Kengeri Police have arrested her daughter Bhagyalakshmi and grandson Vikas in connection with the murder.

According to preliminary investigations,the family was allegedly addicted to alcohol and frequently sold property to fund their drinking habits.

On the night of June 21,an argument reportedly broke out between Jayamma and Bhagyalakshmi over the sale of family property.

During the heated exchange,Vikas allegedly joined the quarrel. Police said the accused assaulted Jayamma with a wooden pestle used for preparing food,causing fatal injuries.

After the incident,the accused allegedly concealed the crime and did not inform anyone about Jayamma’s death.

Later,Vikas reportedly called a friend,asking him to bring liquor,saying his grandmother had died and that he was mentally disturbed.

When the friend arrived for a drinking session,he allegedly noticed Jayamma’s body and immediately alerted the police.Officers rushed to the spot and uncovered the murder.

Based on the complaint and subsequent investigation, Kengeri police registered a case and arrested Bhagyalakshmi and Vikas.Further investigation is underway.
