Urban Mobility,Cyber Safety and Sustainable Urban Development Among Top Priorities for Minister Priyank Kharge

Minister for Home,Information Technology, Biotechnology and E-Governance,Priyank Kharge today
identified urban mobility,cyber safety and sustainable urban development as top priorities, outlining a vision for
Bengaluru’s next phase of growth as a future-ready global technology, innovation and investment destination.

Speaking at the Integrated Workspaces Forum 2026, organised by CCiRE FM & CRE in partnership with Bhartiya Urban,the Minister participated in a Fireside Chat and interactive Q&A session with industry leaders, commercial real estate developers, workplace strategists,facilities management professionals, technology innovators and sustainability experts.

Discussions centred on the future of integrated workspaces,urban infrastructure,sustainability, innovation and the evolving needs of rapidly growing cities.

Addressing the gathering,Priyank Kharge underscored the importance of building future-ready urban
ecosystems that support economic growth while improving quality of life for citizens.

“Urban mobility,cyber safety and sustainable urban development are critical to Bengaluru’s continued growth and competitiveness.

As our city expands and attracts greater investment, talent and innovation,we must focus on creating efficient mobility systems,strengthening cyber resilience and building sustainable infrastructure that enhances quality of life for citizens.

These are areas where we are committed to driving meaningful,systemic and long-term solutions while ensuring Bengaluru remains one of the world’s leading destinations for technology,innovation and investment.”

Highlighting mobility as one of Bengaluru’s most pressing urban challenges, the Minister noted that the city today is home to nearly 1.5 crore people and over 1.25 crore vehicles,underscoring the need for integrated, technology-enabled and data-driven mobility solutions.

He stressed the importance of improving coordination, planning and systemic interventions that can enhance connectivity,ease congestion and support the city’s continued growth.

The Minister also identified cybercrime as a growing concern in an increasingly digital economy,particularly as Bengaluru continues to strengthen its position as one of the world’s leading technology and innovation ecosystems.

He emphasised the need for greater cyber awareness, stronger resilience and coordinated efforts to address
emerging digital threats.

Speaking on Bengaluru’s future,Priyank Kharge highlighted the importance of ensuring that growth remains sustainable,inclusive and future-ready.

He noted that while Bengaluru continues to attract global investment,talent and innovation,urban development must be accompanied by long-term planning,resilient infrastructure and sustainable solutions that enhance livability for citizens.

The discussion further explored the role of integrated workspaces in shaping future cities and economies, including the intersection of commercial real estate, workplace strategy,technology,sustainability and urban planning.

Participants discussed how future-ready workplaces and business districts can contribute to innovation, productivity,talent attraction and economic growth.

The Minister also highlighted Karnataka’s continued efforts to strengthen its innovation-led economy through support for startups,deep-tech entrepreneurship, workforce skilling and global innovation partnerships.

Discussions touched upon initiatives such as Elevate Next,sustainable digital infrastructure, evolving data centre ecosystems,circular economy opportunities and the role of emerging technologies in building future-ready cities and workplaces.
