Devanahalli Traffic Police Issue Notice to Muthappa Rai’s Son Over Alleged Reckless Driving Near KIA

The Devanahalli Traffic Police have issued a notice to Riki Muthappa Rai, son of late Muthappa Rai,in connection with alleged dangerous driving and vehicle modification violations involving a luxury car near the Kempegowda International Airport (KIA).

According to the notice,videos circulated on social media allegedly showed a vehicle bearing registration number KA-05-NR-0009 being driven recklessly on a public road near KIA at around 12.09 am on May 20.

The vehicle was reportedly producing excessive noise and was being driven in a manner that endangered public safety.

Police said the viral footage prima facie indicated violations of provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act,1988, including dangerous driving,unauthorized vehicle modifications, and breach of prescribed vehicle safety and noise-control standards.

Based on the preliminary inquiry,the police are examining action under Sections 184, 52,190(2), and 177 of the Motor Vehicles Act, as well as Section 281 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS),2023, which pertains to rash or negligent driving on a public road endangering human life.

The notice directs Rai to appear before the Police Inspector of Devanahalli Traffic Police Station within three days along with the vehicle and relevant documents and submit a written explanation regarding the alleged violations.

Police have warned that failure to comply with the notice may result in legal action being initiated without any further notice.

The action is part of an ongoing drive by Bengaluru police against reckless driving,illegal vehicle modifications,and public-road stunts that are increasingly being showcased on social media platforms.
