Speeding Mercedes Crashes Near Hoskote,Two Killed in Early-Morning Accident

A 25-year-old woman was killed and her friend injured when a speeding Mercedes-Benz crashed into a bridge wall on the Bengaluru-Chennai Expressway near Hoskote in the early hours of Saturday,killing both the occupants.

The deceased have been identified as Shazia (25),an employee of a private company in Bengaluru, and Rizwan,a Bengaluru-based car dealer.The duo were going on the late night drive .

According to police,the duo had driven from Bengaluru towards the HKR Road stretch to have dinner at a Hotel.

The accident occurred while they were returning and crossing the Dodda Hulluru bridge near Hoskote.

Preliminary investigations revealed that Rizwan was driving the luxury car at a very high speed when he allegedly lost control of the vehicle.

The Mercedes-Benz rammed into the concrete side wall of the bridge with tremendous force,completely crushing the front portion of the car.

Hearing the loud impact,local residents rushed to the spot and alerted the police.

Shazia,who was trapped inside the severely damaged vehicle, had sustained fatal injuries and was declared dead at the scene.

Initially,police suspected that the driver had fled the accident site.

However,a subsequent search revealed that the impact of the crash had thrown Rizwan out of the vehicle.He fell from the bridge into the water body below and died on the spot.

The bodies were later recovered and shifted to a nearby hospital for post-mortem examination.

The Hoskote Traffic Police have registered a case and are investigating the circumstances leading to the high-speed crash.Further inquiries are underway.
