What was meant to be a casual and usual Sunday morning metro train trip for hundreds of Bengaluru commuters turned out to be a special one with Chief Minister D K Shivakumar travelling along with them like an ordinary citizen.

The CM exchanged pleasantries with fellow passengers, took selfies with young men and women,even gave a chocolate to a child during his journey from Vidhana Soudha metro station to Silk Institute on Kanakapura Road. The CM,who was scheduled to attend several programmes in his home constituency of Kanakapura, chose to travel by train till the last metro station on Kanakapura Road from Vidhana Soudha in order to avoid traffic jams for Bangaloreans.
He travelled to Kanakapura by road from the Silk Institute.
At the Dr.B R Ambedkar metro station near Vidhana Soudha,the CM spent some time glancing through the daily newspapers and then shook hands with metro passengers.
Young men and women enthusiastically greeted him and shook his hand.Many were thrilled to take selfies with the Chief Minister.
When the CM asked a young woman how she found metro commute, she replied that the metro train journey saves a great deal of time.
The CM handed a chocolate to a child and took a selfie with the child’s parents.When one child asked,”Give me a photo too,”the Chief Minister himself took the mobile phone and gave a selfie.
A senior citizen met the CM and said,”I’m very happy to see you on the metro train.May things go well for you,” He also asked foreign tourists about their experience of metro commute.

Responding to the media near the Dr.B R Ambedkar metro station,the CM said,”The people of my constituency have brought me all the way here from Doddaalahalli.
The people of my constituency had been asking to meet me.That is why I am meeting my constituency,my people.”
“I will appoint special officers to listen to the problems and grievances of the people of my constituency.The people of my constituency have never caused any trouble.They go about minding their own work.
The people of my constituency have political understanding and awareness.Even though they expect nothing from me,it is my duty to serve them,”he said.
“I must express my gratitude to my people.Their feelings and hard work must be rewarded fittingly.The people of Sathanur constituency,Doddaalahalli Zilla Panchayat, and Kanakapura had been asking to meet me.
I had not been able to give them time.I had appealed to everyone not to come to Bengaluru.That is why I am now visiting the constituency,”he said.
“The people of my constituency are the ones who got me up the steps of the Vidhana Soudha.They have nurtured [my career] over the past 40 years.
It is my duty to first express my gratitude to them.That is why, having finished all my work, I am going to meet the people, he said.

When asked about the increase in the price of domestic cooking gas cylinders,he said,”I have asked for a separate report on that.
More than this,they have raised industrial gas prices and diesel prices at an alarming rate.I am obtaining a report. I will speak about this on Monday.”
