The Bengaluru Traffic Police registered a total of 752 cases during a special enforcement drive against drunk driving and overspeeding conducted between April 27 and May 3 across the city.
The week-long crackdown, carried out by personnel from 53 traffic police stations, focused on curbing violations that pose a serious threat to road safety.
Under the drunk driving drive,officials checked 46,103 vehicles and booked 633 cases against motorists found driving under the influence of alcohol.
Meanwhile,in the overspeeding drive,police registered 119 cases, collecting a total fine of ₹2.33 lakh, while an additional ₹1.19 lakh was collected under related enforcement measures.
Police said the initiative was aimed at reducing accidents caused by reckless driving behaviour and ensuring safer roads in Bengaluru.
Officials added that such special drives will continue in the coming weeks to maintain strict enforcement and improve compliance among motorists.
