Bengaluru: Two police personnel attached to the 112 emergency response team were allegedly assaulted by two intoxicated men while trying to stop a fight at Palanajogihalli in Doddaballapur of Bengaluru Rural district.
The incident occurred when the personnel,identified as Manikantha and Rayappa Poojari,were on night patrol duty.Police received an alert through the 112 emergency helpline about two men fighting in the area.
The officers reached the spot and found Harahan Sarihan and Basir alias Gidda allegedly quarrelling with each other.Both were reportedly under the influence of alcohol.
When the personnel intervened to pacify them,the duo allegedly became aggressive and turned on the officers.
The accused allegedly assaulted Manikantha and Rayappa Poojari,injuring them on their chest,hands and legs.
The injured personnel were taken to Doddaballapur Government Hospital,where they received treatment.
The Doddaballapur Rural police took both accused into custody shortly after the incident.Police are questioning them to ascertain the sequence of events and the circumstances leading to the alleged assault.Further investigation is underway.
