HSR Layout Police have arrested a 22-year-old engineering graduate from Tamil Nadu for allegedly targeting locked houses and commercial establishments and stealing expensive electronic gadgets. Stolen property worth Rs.20 lakh has been recovered.
The accused has been identified as Sathya alias Sathiya (22),a resident of Tambaram in Chennai.
Bengaluru City Police Commissioner,Seemant Kumar Singh said police recovered nine laptops,two tablets and 11 mobile phones,collectively valued at around Rs.20 lakh,from the accused.
Shop burglary investigated:
The arrest stems from a burglary reported at an electronics store in Sector 7,HSR Layout.
According to police,the accused allegedly broke open the shop’s window grille during the night and gained entry into the premises before stealing several branded mobile phones, MacBooks,laptops and tablets.
Following the registration of the case,HSR Layout Police launched an investigation using technical evidence and intelligence inputs.
Arrest and recovery:
Police tracked down the accused near Attibele bus stand, where he was found carrying two stolen laptops.
During interrogation,Sathya allegedly confessed that he had stored the remaining stolen electronic items at his residence in Chennai.
A police team subsequently recovered the remaining stolen property from his house.
Police said the investigation is continuing to ascertain whether the accused was involved in similar burglary cases in Bengaluru or elsewhere.
