The Karnataka government has transferred the investigation into two cases related to alleged irregularities in the Karnataka Public Service Commission (KPSC) recruitment examinations to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID),Home Minister Priyank Kharge announced on Monday.
The two cases were originally registered at the Vidhana Soudha Police Station under Section 10 of the Karnataka Public Examination (Prevention of Corruption and Unfair Means in Recruitment) Act, 2023.
The government said the transfer was aimed at ensuring a fair,impartial and comprehensive investigation into allegations of malpractice in public examinations and recruitment processes.
Kharge said the state government remains firmly committed to safeguarding the integrity,credibility and transparency of public recruitment.
He asserted that any allegations of corruption, malpractice,unfair practices or misuse in examinations or recruitment would be investigated fearlessly and impartially,irrespective of the status or position of those involved.
He said transferring the cases to the CID reflects the government’s resolve to ensure an independent, transparent and credible investigation,with strict legal action to be taken against anyone found guilty.
The Home Minister also stressed that protecting the trust of lakhs of competitive examination aspirants and ensuring justice based on merit and eligibility remains one of the government’s highest priorities.
He reiterated that the government would not compromise on maintaining the sanctity of public examinations and strengthening a merit-based recruitment system.
