Avalahalli Police have arrested four habitual offenders, including a notorious burglar known as”Karate Seena”, for their alleged involvement in multiple house burglaries and thefts at wedding halls across Bengaluru.
Police have recovered stolen property worth ₹1.28 crore and solved 39 property crime cases.
The arrested have been identified as Srinivas alias Karate Seena(36)of Vinayakanagar,Hebbal,Srinivas(43) of Sunkadakatte,Pradeep (33)of Sanjaynagar and Asif (19) of Bidarahalli.
Bengaluru City Police Commissioner,Seemant Kumar Singh said police recovered 815 grams of gold ornaments,₹9.50 lakh in cash,one car used in the offences and three two-wheelers,with the total value of the seizure estimated at ₹1.28 crore.
House burglary case:
The breakthrough came during the investigation of a house burglary reported at Avalahalli.
The complainant had left for Madurai with family on July 3 and returned on July 5,only to find that burglars had broken into the house, forced open a cupboard and stolen gold ornaments and Rs.5 lakh in cash.
Based on technical evidence and intelligence inputs, police arrested three accused near Avalahalli on July 14.
During interrogation,the accused confessed to selling the stolen jewellery at jewellery shops in Sunkadakatte, City Market and Andrahalli.
Police recovered 475 grams of gold ornaments,₹9.50 lakh in cash,and three motorcycles allegedly used in the crime.
Wedding hall theft case:
In a separate case registered on July 8,police apprehended Asif (19) after he was found moving suspiciously inside a wedding hall near Kattanallur Cross,Avalahalli.
During questioning,Asif allegedly admitted that he targeted wedding functions by taking advantage of the crowd and stealing gold jewellery from guests.
Police said he also confessed to committing similar thefts at wedding halls and resorts in Kattanallur Cross, Budigere Cross and Bagalur.
Investigators recovered 340 grams of gold ornaments worth about Rs.47 lakh and the car allegedly used in the offences.
Multiple cases solved:
Police said the arrests have helped crack 39 property offences,including:
Six house burglary cases in Avalahalli.
One house burglary each in Bagalur and Hoskote police station limits.
One two-wheeler theft case registered at Sadashivanagar Police Station.
The investigation is continuing to ascertain whether the accused are involved in any additional property offences.
