Woman Alleges Harassment by Scooter Rider; Ramamurthynagar Cops Begin Probe & identified suspect in minutes After Social Media post went viral

A woman has alleged that she was sexually harassed by a scooter rider while waiting for her cab in Bengaluru, prompting the Ramamurthynagar police to initiate an inquiry after the complaint surfaced on social media.

In an Instagram post,the woman alleged that a man riding a scooter bearing registration number KA03 KQ6190 approached her and made inappropriate remarks,allegedly propositioning her for money.

She said the incident left her feeling intimidated, disrespected and fearful for her safety.

“As a woman,I should be able to wait for my cab without being treated like an object or being propositioned for money.

No one should have to experience this kind of harassment in a public place,”she wrote in her post.

Seeking action from the authorities,the woman urged law enforcement to identify the rider and take appropriate legal action,stating that such behaviour should not be normalised or ignored.

She also appealed to the public to speak up against incidents of street harassment.

The post drew the attention of the Bengaluru Police. Responding online,the official account of Whitefield Division DCP asked the complainant to share the exact location of the incident.

Subsequently,the R.M.Nagar police took note of the complaint and have initiated a probe to verify the allegations and identify the rider.

A senior officer said we have Identified the accused person.Waiting for formal complaint by the Woman and further stringent action will be initiated he added.
